Glee has returned, with a vengeance. Okay I missed the first half hour because of Lost (I will get it on Hulu.com as soon as it is up). But once again Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) has ripped through the scenery and delivered. The Vogue preview for next weeks Madonna ep was so ridiculously perfect. I remember Jane from Waiting for Guffman and Glee just buries what they gave her to work with there. If any one is listening, give Sue more!

Also they set up some obstacles for Will and Emma. That felt kinda forced. It makes Will seem too self involved. But it was great they he got to make out with the opposing coach. Maybe I missed it but they should have played up Emma’s aversion more. Or added a new twist not the same old sit com romantic separations.

The AC DC cover rocked. It reminded me of … ah well that’s a bit too dated to mention (it involves 8-tracks and a Ford Galaxy 500). The Beatles cover of Hello Goodbye, was not good. I cringed. Go for the low hanging fruit, not the hard to do justice too stuff.

I found the slushie war lame, but I really liked Will’s old school “Bust a Move.” Ken is so fantastically repulsive when he is jealous of Emma and Will. I would so loved to have seen a “I Could Have Danced All Night”/”Thong Song” mash up.

Puck and Rachael hooked up! They make a way cuter couple then Quinn and Finn. But sadly it does not seem to be in the cards for them. Puck’s rendition of Neil Simmon’s “Sweet Caroline” was so good it even has Quinn thinking he is boyfriend material.

Sue Sylvester had a little side plot with a romantic liaison with a news anchor. It felt a bit forced to me. I guess because the writers were making her play nice. Forget that, just let her give a monologues every few shows.

Another great show with so many great lines and two great mash ups. Also, a great dance move in the boy’s number.

Loved Emma’s yellow blouse. It was “insane” as Sue Sylvester said. Also, loved that the competition for Sectionals will be a School for the Deaf and Half Way House. I bet they’ll both be surprisingly tough competitors.

Sue Sylvester, though, had the best lines of the night. Just loved her monologue to her journal. And I quote “without my endorsement deals, I won’t be able to buy my hovercraft. Every time I try to destroy that clutch of scab eating mouth breathers it only comes back stronger, like some sexually ambiguous horror movie villian. Here I am about to turn 30 and I’ve sacrificed everything only to be shanghied by the bicurious machinations of a cabal of doughy misshapen teens. Am I missing something, Journal? Is it me? Of course it isn’t me. It’s Will Schuster. What is it about him, Journal? Is it the arrogant smirk? Is it the store bought home perm?” Brilliant writing and Jane Lynch rocked it.

More great lines from Sue “Your husband is hiding his keilbasa in a Hickory Farms gift basket that doesn’t belong to you.” And describing Emma as a “mentally ill ginger pygmy with eyes like a bush baby.”

Ken also got a few good lines. My favorite “me with psoriasis and one testicle that won’t descend.”

Terri always gets a good line or two. She described Ken as “He’s dumb like sand and his fondue pot of nationalities is going to open your kids to a host of genetic diseases.” but kind and generous, and available.

The end was bittersweet, but at least Emma was wearing another “insane” blouse. Can’t wait for next episode.
